When BD Wanted to Reduce Travel Expenses, They Took a Trip to AVCON.

CHALLENGE

BD and AVCON have had a longtime partnership. BD’s boardroom, in particular, has been an evolving project, with upgrades and enhancements over the years. Now it was time to make the investment to truly offer a single AV system for presentation, audio and video conferencing capabilities. One of the key strengths of AVCON’s process is to spend time up front understanding the client’s needs and expectations, which meant knowing what BD’s presentation and communication needs were. This room was to be used by a varied group of employees, representing all levels within the organization, to communicate internally as well as to external audiences.

The client outlined two specific goals for this new boardroom upgrade. First, design and install a virtual presentation and conferencing system that would be so effective that it would reduce travel expenses – with only the most essential corporate travel required. And secondly, make the system so intuitive that it wouldn’t require prior system knowledge or training in order to use it effectively.

SOLUTION

AVCON recommended a seamlessly integrated presentation, audio and video conferencing system that featured an AMX control system, a Tandberg videoconferencing system and ClearOne communication audio conferencing technology. To complete the environment, AVCON upgraded the projection system with a new and improved brightness projector for presentations and enhanced the video conferencing with the addition of a large format Samsung plasma screen. With just one touch on the programmable control panel, users could deploy this sophisticated technology to create an engaging virtual presentation environment. All of the equipment recommendations adhered to BD’s conferencing technology standards.

After completion of this two-month project, the first true test of the newly designed system was scheduled. BD hosted an audio and video conference call for an on-site technical review presentation. The system worked as designed – first time – and provided an exceptional experience that was engaging for all involved and eliminated the need for travel. During a more recent presentation, management was even more impressed with the system’s ability to conduct a multi-point call, allowing three sites to be hosted via video conferencing. For BD, that equals significant savings and a good return on investment. With continued positive feedback from both internal and external audiences, that’s success guaranteed.
